If any person in the family is going to be registering for any sacramental preparation, you do not register during regular registration times. You may make an appointment for a private registration time and complete not only the sacramental preparation registration, but also all other registrations at that one appointment. (You don't come twice. You can do everything at one visit.)

First Reconciliation and First Communion

If a child is 7 years of age and in the second grade, that child is eligible to prepare for First Reconciliation and First Communion.  Students preparing to receive these sacraments must be enrolled in on-going faith formation in addition to Sacramental Preparation classes.  If a child in your family is eligible to begin preparation for these sacraments, please contact Silvia Lesko; 940/387-6223, ext. 26 or slesko@stmarkdenton.org Families must be registered parishioners of St. Mark Catholic Church for their children to prepare for sacraments in our programs.  The following paperwork will be collected for children preparing for sacraments:

  • A copy of the student's birth certificate and
  • A copy of the student’s Baptism certificate.

There are several class options for sacrament preparation and they will be discussed with parents during their initial contact with the RE Office.

Sacramental Preparation for High School Confirmation

Diocesan guidelines state that a student must be at least 15 years of age at the time they begin preparing for the sacrament of Confirmation.  If your teen will be 15 before January 2010, s/he is eligible to prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in the spring of 2010.  All students preparing for Confirmation must also be registered for religious education.

The following paperwork will be collected for teens preparing for this sacrament:

  • A copy of the student’s Baptism certificate

Adult Confirmation

Each year at Pentecost, the Bishop confirms Catholic adults who did not prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation at an earlier age.  There will be an Adult Confirmation Retreat on Saturday, April 26 in St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Hall (portable E) from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. to prepare adults for reception of the Sacrament of Confirmation on Pentecost.  For more information, contact Silvia Lesko; 940/387-6223, ext. 26 or slesko@stmarkdenton.org.
